The Rajmahal Set

The Rajmahal Set

£460.00

The Story Named for the palace court from which such adornments once drew their authority, the Rajmahal Set is a composition of sovereign weight and intention. A broad silver hasli, the rigid torque worn by queens and noblewomen across the Indian subcontinent for millennia, anchors the set at the throat, its surface alive with hand-engraved foliage and a cascade of polki diamonds, rubies, and turquoise at the centre. The bangle completes the composition: one wrapped in a fine geometric lattice of repeated eye-form motifs, the other deep-relief engraved in the same courtly idiom as the torque. Together, they form a statement of complete adornment, the kind worn not to accessorise an outfit, but to define one.

The Craft The hasli is worked across its entire surface in hand-engraved floral and feather motifs, with the centrepiece featuring a symmetrical arrangement of uncut polki diamonds set in the traditional kundan style, flanked by heart-shaped ruby inlays and clusters of turquoise. The ends of the torque terminate in elegant scrolled hooks, a classical finishing detail that speaks to the refined metalwork traditions of Rajasthan. The lattice bangle is stamped with an interlocking geometric pattern across a domed, oxidised surface, while the second bangle carries the same engraved density as the hasli, tying the three pieces into a coherent visual family.

The Materials Both pieces are forged in oxidised sterling silver, with the hasli set with uncut polki diamonds, natural rubies, and turquoise cabochons. The aged patina across each piece is entirely natural, the honest record of time, and forms an essential part of their beauty and character.
