The Vana Devi Set

The Vana Devi Set

£460.00

The Story Named for the forest goddess of Indian lore (keeper of nature, protector of sacred groves) the Vana Devi set carries the quiet authority of relics recovered from time. Trio of heart-shaped necklace pendants and a pair of long, cascading earrings come together in a complete composition, each piece engraved with figures of the natural world and united by the same ancient visual language of Indian folk silversmithing. A set for the collector who understands that the most powerful jewels are the ones that carry a world within them.

The Craft The necklace pendants are shaped in the classic paan, the betel leaf form long considered auspicious in Indian iconography, and worked in repoussé, a technique in which silver is hammered from behind to raise the design into relief from the front. Flora, birds, and folk motifs are framed by dotted borders, with silver drop beads at the base of each pendant adding gentle movement. The earrings are built in three acts: a granulated silver dome at the top, a cast rectangular plaque bearing bold raised figures in high relief, and a cascade of four silver chains terminating in hand-stamped marquise drops that move freely with every gesture. Oxidisation across both pieces deepens every engraved line into rich, aged contrast.

The Materials Forged in oxidised sterling silver throughout, the necklace pendants are suspended on a hand-strung strand of natural labradorite chip beads, their cool, iridescent grey forming a quiet backdrop that lets the silver take centre stage. The earrings are fitted with shepherd's hook wires, and each leaf-shaped chain drop is individually stamped with a dotted floral detail, ensuring that even the smallest element holds its own as a considered piece of craft.
